Photoshop support is great here, but if you have a specific problem when using Photoshop Elements, you may find that the support is limited to a very basic level. There is no FAQ or knowledgebase for Photoshop Elements, and it’s therefore not easy to get help with the software. There is a support thread on the Adobe forums, but it’s not very active.

If you need support for Photoshop Elements, it’s probably best to use a different program for your image editing. If you are making a website, use a different program than if you are making a product catalog.

The version of Photoshop Elements that I’ll be discussing in this article is for Windows and Mac. You can also use Photoshop Elements on Linux with Wine, although I have not tested this myself.

You should also use a separate program for your image editing if you aren’t using Photoshop Elements to create images. If you use Photoshop Elements to make memes or make illustrations, you can use any other image editor for that purpose.

The first few issues I encountered in Photoshop Elements involved loading photos from the hard drive. I will assume that the images were jpegs and that you are using Windows.

1. Locate the drive with the images on it

Your first step is to discover where the images are located.

Open up the Computer or My Computer icon and find the directory where your images are located. They will typically be stored in a subfolder called Photos and will have the date and time of the images in them. The structure for a folder like this looks like this:

10/22/2015 12:15 AM Photos (in my case)

Go into this folder, right-click on the first image, and select Properties. From there you should be able to see the image name and how big it is. Right-click on the image and select Save to Disk. Save the image to the same directory that it is located in. It should look like this:

When you do this, Photoshop Elements doesn’t automatically update the properties of the image. The image name will still be inside the file extension, for example:

10/22/2015 12:15 AM Photos – image.jpg

Change the name of the file to something that includes the word ‘original’ or ‘test.’ Save the image. Right-click on it and select Close to quit and go on to the next step.

2. Locate the file without the extension

How Sports and Entertainment Leaders Prepare for COVID-19

Coronavirus (COVID-19) could spread rapidly within sports and entertainment venues as the Olympics begin. At the same time, the pandemic could slow down event production and the mobilization of workers. Proactive sports and entertainment leaders are taking steps to reduce potential exposure risks, improve employee safety and support workers.

For the past three years, AEG has been preparing for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro to be held in August 2016. The Brazilian city holds a range of sporting and cultural events, including the Olympic Games, the World Cup soccer tournament and dozens of cultural and musical spectacles. Recent events in the country indicate that some segments of the population—especially the younger generation—may not be very familiar with the Olympic Games.

For many industries, the new coronavirus would pose a significant challenge. The COVID-19 outbreak began in China more than two months ago. As of March 9, there were 84,250 confirmed cases, 4,482 deaths and 581,304 suspected cases, according to the World Health Organization.

Within sports and entertainment, the potential risk includes exposure to and spread of the virus among fans, athletes, coaches and other personnel. Performance venues can be large and the equipment used by performers—such as tennis rackets, soccer balls and athletic equipment—can be transmitted through the air. Fans, especially children, also can be infected by the virus and subsequently pass it on to others.

The COVID-19 outbreak could slow event production and the mobilization of workers. The International Olympic Committee has predicted that the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will take place safely but there may be a slowdown in order to create space for the Games and to minimize the chance of contamination. Performance venues are large and complex. If the Olympics begin with just a few events, these venues could be too small to accommodate sufficient seating capacity.

In any case, it will be necessary to carefully assess risks and deploy the appropriate safety protocols to reduce exposure risks. It will be critical to prepare for any shutdown or reduction in the number of spectators, including potential police deployment, the deployment of audience security and safety teams to supplement stadium personnel, and the need to stock up on the supplies and equipment required to complete the events.

Why we’re preparing

To mitigate the potential spread of the virus throughout our venues and ensure the safety of our fans and employees, AEG Sports has developed a comprehensive plan to

What’s New In?

* **Brush** : The Brush tool has several types of brushes, each with a different set of features. You can apply a brush to any area of the canvas. Generally, you can think of the different brush types as alternative tools that perform the same function. You can create some of the same effects with a brush as you can with the Pen tool, but with a brush, you can choose from several styles.

As you select different types of brushes, the lower portion of the dialog box that appears changes to reflect that choice. Figure 15-2 shows the lower part of the dialog box that appears when you select the Outline tool.

Figure 15-2. With the Outline tool selected, you can choose from a set of different brushes. This figure shows the lower portion of the dialog box that appears when you choose from the set of brushes. Here you see the different styles available with the Outline tool.

Here’s what each brush type is good for:

* **Round** : Use this tool to create a light, soft, rounded effect, such as for highlight, interior, and shadow. Figure 15-3. While the Round brush has a simple effect, you can modify the edges and shine effects with the Painterly effect in the Brush Preset drop-down menu. ») shows the Round brush with two different Painterly styles.

Figure 15-3. The Round brush can be used for rounded corners, highlights, and shadows. You can give the edges a Painterly effect with one of the Brush Preset styles in the drop-down menu, as shown here.

* **Square** : This brush is great for sharpening images by squaring up corners, clipping paths, and roughing in vanishing points. It’s also good for expressing a geometric drawing technique, where points are connected using a curved line.

Figure 15-4. The Square brush has edges that are highlighted or narrowed in different ways. To change the appearance of the edges, use the Painterly effect in the Brush Preset menu. This preview image was created with the Pen tool.

* **Soft Round** : This brush’s edges are extremely soft and blend when you press lightly on the canvas. The soft round brush has a Painterly effect in the Brush Preset drop-down menu. Figure 15-5. The Soft Round brush is commonly used to paint smooth, organic edges onto rough edges. This preview image was created with the Pen tool
